Pale colour. Lemon, pepper and pungent dusty herbs on the nose. Supple, juicy and intense, with firm-edged acidity framing and extending the pure citrus and herbal flavors. Long, brisk, classic Sauvignon Blanc.
Air New Zealand Kia Ora Magazine, January 2010, Bob Campbell MW
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a great match with just about all seafood, particularly when the dish is garnished with a squeeze of lime or lemon. Mount Riley consistently offers good Marlborough sauvignon blanc at a great price. This is one of their best yet. It's as fresh as a crunchy apple picked minutes before you sink your teeth into it. A great conbination of pungent fruit flavours and tangy texture, the wine captures everything that's great about summer.
Decanter Magazine 1 March 2010, 4 Stars & Picked in the Top 10 NZ Sauvignon Blancs, Christelle Guibert
A restrained style with notes of apple, lime and herbs. The palate is zesty with a good backbone, boasting fresh varietal characters that are not too rich. Good length.
Bobswinereviews.com, Bob Campbell, Master of Wine
Light, fresh, pure Sauvignon Blanc with restrained red capsicum, gooseberry, currant and passion fruit flavours. Dry yet subtly succulent wine that achieves a perfect balance of soft acidity with subliminal sweetness. A lengthy finish reveals a level of fruit power that is not immediately evident on first taste.
Daily Telegraph Sydney, 12 January 2010, Jeff Collerson
This is precisely why NZ Sauvignon Blanc is our most popular white. It's aromatic and crammed with the taste of limes, herbs, minerals and pungent crystallised fruit.
The Age Melbourne 2 February 2010
A zippy Marlborough sauvignon blanc that demonstrates classically pristine New Zealand varietal character worthy of a wine selling for dollars more. It opens with an aroma of blackcurrant, a whisper of passionfruit, leafy and green fruit notes. It tastes fruity with clean flavours, mouth watering balance and a long tangy finish.

It's easy to see why this tropical white is a gold medal winner with its freshness, smoothness and great length.

Marlborough’s weather at both bud burst and fruit set was ideal in the 2009 growing year, resulting in large potential crops. Mount Riley performed a great deal of work in its vineyards to reduce crop levels and ensure quality over quantity. Summer was slightly cooler than usual and this, together with Marlborough's typical warm days and cool nights, helped build excellent aromatics while retaining great natural acidity. From March right through to the end of our harvest at Mount Riley, Mother Nature was kind to us. We had virtually no rain and were able to pick when flavour and aromas were at their peak. Our 2009 Sauvignon Blanc is a blend from several vineyard sites throughout Marlborough, with over 90% from the Wairau Valley. Grapes were crushed and destemmed prior to pressing and fermentation was induced by the introduction of carefully selected yeast strains. We fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures to preserve the lifted aromatics in this wine.
