Mount Riley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011 comes from the south island of New Zealand. The Kiwis have made Pinot Noir a calling card, and this bottling is a perfect example of why. It is pale ruby in colour, with a low intensity nose of sour cherry, fresh raspberry, red licorice, tomato leaf, earth, and a bit of vanilla. On the medium-bodied palate the flavours are sour cherry, vanilla wafers, raspberry, beet greens, and fresh cranberry. The finish is long and the quality is high.

The grapes that went into this wine were sourced from multiple vineyard sites throughout the Wairau Valley in Marlborough. Multiple vineyard parcels and clonal material means we can make a complex and complete wine with great fruit character and depth of flavour. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented in small parcels and aged for nine months in French barriques.
