This youthful beauty is full of appealing fruit flavours - dark plum, blueberry, cassis - together with subtle nutty, spicy notes. It's supple, silky and rounded with excellent intensity, beautifully supported by fine-grained tannins. Very easy to like. At its best: now to 2017.

Raymond Chan - Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
A blend of Merlot and Malbec from vineyards in the Wairau Valley, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 10% new French and American oak barriques. Full, very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour. This has a softly deep and concentrated, up-front nose of ripe, black berried fruits, along with spices, earth and smoky detail, the aromas primary and youthful. Medium-full bodied, the palate features soft-textured, smooth-flowing flavours of sweetly ripe black and blue berry fruits, dark plums and layers of earth and spices that form a plump, but solid core. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannins with soft, background acidity, lending a mellow fulsome mouthfeel which leads to a light, dry finish of black fruits. This is a soft, up-front, black-fruited Merlot-blend with spice and earth interest. Serve with pastas, barbecued food, beef and lamb over the next 4+ years.
